Tree removal in Waterkloof

Felling plus clearing, on a large stand
A removal on a large stand means bringing the tree down and then making the ground usable again. The contractor lowers the crown and trunk in sections, cuts the timber into lengths, and then deals with the branches, the sawdust and the stump. On a property with long driveways and established planting, where all of that goes matters as much as the cut.
If the logs are to be kept for firewood, they are normally stacked somewhere convenient. If the green waste is to go, it is chipped or loaded and carried out, which is a job in itself on a big tree.
The stump is a separate step
Removing the tree does not remove the stump. Left cut low at ground level, the stump stays for years, and on a large tree it is a fair obstacle to mow around. Grinding takes it below the surface so the ground can be levelled, planted or paved. It is normally quoted as its own job, so ask for it at the same time.
On an old stand, the roots may also have lifted paving or cracked a low wall. A contractor can tell you what the stumps and roots have done and what is realistic to put right.

- The size of the tree and the volume of timber and green waste it produces.
- Whether the branches are chipped and taken away or left on site.
- How far the wood has to be carried across a large garden to a vehicle.
- Whether the stump is ground out and to what depth.
