What we do

Tree Felling Pretoria helps people who have a tree that has become a problem find an independent contractor who covers their suburb and does that kind of work. That might be a large garden tree overhanging a roof in Waterkloof, a dead tree dropping limbs in Sinoville, a stump that needs grinding in Eldoraigne, a palm that needs trimming in Montana, or a tree brought down by a storm in Centurion.

You send us your suburb, a short description of the tree and what worries you about it, and how to reach you. We pass the enquiry to a suitable contractor. The contractor contacts you, visits where needed and quotes you directly. If you accept, your agreement for the work is with the contractor.

What we are not

We are not a tree-felling contractor, an arborist practice or a tree-care company. We do not fell, remove, grind or prune trees, we do not climb or operate chainsaws, and we do not hold an arborist registration. The contractor you are connected with does the work.

We do not set contractors' prices and we do not warrant their work. The contractor is responsible for the quality of the work, any warranty they offer, safety on site and compliance with the rules that apply to your property. We say this plainly on every page, because you should know who you are dealing with before you share your details or accept a quote.

Before work starts

Ask the contractor for proof of public liability insurance and for anything else you need to be comfortable, such as how they will protect your paving and garden. If the tree may be protected, or the property is in a complex or estate, settle the permit and approval questions before the day.

What we publish, and what we do not

Our pages explain tree decisions and Pretoria conditions in plain language, so that you can describe the job well and compare quotes. We write about the factors that move a quote rather than prices, because contractors set their own prices and we will not publish figures that nobody has confirmed in writing.

For the same reason, we do not publish ratings, review scores, years of experience, registration numbers or response times that we cannot stand behind. Where we describe rules that may apply, we point you to the source and tell you to confirm with the municipality. If a fact is not confirmed, we leave it out.

How contractors are chosen

We pass enquiries to contractors who cover the suburb concerned and who do the type of work requested.

If we do not have a contractor who covers your suburb or the work you need, we will tell you rather than pass your details on regardless.

Frequently asked questions

Do you fell trees yourselves?

No. We connect you with an independent contractor who covers your area. The contractor does the work and quotes you directly.

Can you tell me if my tree needs a permit?

No. Some trees are protected and the rules depend on the species and the property. Check with the City of Tshwane, and ask the contractor to identify the tree for you.

Who do I contact if I am unhappy with the work?

The contractor, because the agreement for the work is between you and them. You are welcome to let us know too, so that we can take it into account.
